Okay, allow me to warn you. The information below is not going to
be exactly that, information. I am going to write a daily journal
throughout my pregnancy. I am not going to sugar coat anything.
I am not Donna Read, nor do I plan on pretending to be her.
There will be gross stuff. If you don't want to hear about
vomit and blood-you best move on to the next google option. When I
first thought I could have been pregnant, I started a mad search for
anything on pregnancy. I ran across a lady's blog ( I'll see if
she'll mind me adding her link) that was very helpful to me. It
made me feel normal. I hope to do the same for other people.
Even if something bad happens, it will be posted. So here
goes nothing.*
HIPPA who?
1/26/06-What the hell is HIPPA anyways? I go to have blood
work drawn and BOOM! Hippa blows up! You see, Dr. C checked
a PArvo B-19 level on me. This is to check for "fifths disease".
This is a common illness amongst children. Kids actually
look like they've been slapped across the face when hey have this
disease. With me working around sick people all day, it was
pretty likely that I had been exposed to this disease ( in adults it's
similar to the flu). Needless to say, my test came back positive.
Which is actually good, I can't contract it during pregnancy and hurt
the baby if I've already had it. The point is-some one from the
lab confonted me about it. Sure, this person took me to an empty
hallway - but asked me if I was pregnant! NOOOO-not yet that I
know of-but hell! I'd love to discuss it with you! WRONG.
This is a very private matter to me at this point. I'd LIKE
to share this with my husband - not co-workers.
Anyways-I was very upset and my manager heard everything.
Guess I won't have to spill the beans to her. Luckily my
manager is my friend too and is 6 months pregnant. She offered to
help me get any labs I needed in the future done elsewhere. This
makes me feel better.
